Q. I get a session error when trying to install sugarcrm, how do I fix it?

A. So, here is the trick with getting this software to go through the installer since it falls flat on its face with a perfectly functional lamp configuration.

Simply create a directory above the public_html folder, call it sugarcrmtmp.

Add this line of code to the third line of install.php

ini_set('session.save_path', '/home/cpanelusername/sugarcrmtmp');

Notice the path there. Make sure you replace cpanelusername with your cpanel login username.

Now you can install it just fine.

Go ahead and install it. Once the software is installed you can delete the sugarcrmtmp folder, as its only needed during installation.
